Like every other knitter with respect for him-/herself I have a good stash of nice wool… I actually have a good stash of cotton too, even though I am not keen on knitting with it. After finishing the Baby Yoda Sweater and not being super happy with the outcome, just because I am a fuss pot – and made the wrong choises, I had a quick trawl around Ravelry to see if there was some cardigan pattern that I would like better. I thought I would combine some baby knitting and some getting the cotton stash down a good bit.
I was lucky as I found this little cardigan pattern called Mossy Jacket from Fawn Pea with a delicate detail of an asymmetrical opening. I like that sort of quirkiness and I love the fact that it is knit top down and with raglan sleeves which I find easiest to get on a baby. I will probably modify a bit. I think I will have a few more buttons so that it stays put on the baby. I cannot bear to look at bare flesh on a baby and some of them really do tend to split on the middle with the handling of them. A firmly buttoned cardigan should make it possible to keep the baby warm and snug and pretty in the one go.
I just wonder if I will take to baby knitting even though there are no juicy meandering long rows where you can let the creative juices flow completely freely…

Your baby yoda cardigan is gorgeous, such lovely colours.
I know what you mean about knitting with cotton, but it is lovely and cool and washes well too.
Thanks Sinéad, I like the colours too and as it turned out, so did the little fellow.
I knit the Yoda in some very soft very splitting Egyptian cotton and it was a nightmare to work with, but this one is much better, but more about that later!
