I found some lovely chunky purple and pink and blue yarn in the stash last night and wanted to convert it to a cosy neck warmer and needles size 8 mm were needed. I rummaged in my vase full of needles to find an appropriate set of needles. Normally, I work on circular needles, even when working a piece back and forth, circular needles are so flexible and if the piece is heavy it’s always nice on circulars as the bulk of the knitting will rest peacefully on the lap while the needles are flying along the rows. I rummaged and rummaged for a set of circular needles of the right size last night, but all I could find was straight wooden knitting poles. To me, knitting with straight needles is a curse in itself. They bounce off the side of the arm chair, they are heavy to lift, well, they basically cramp my hang lose style. To add insult to injury, this particular set is wooden.
Now, I must admit, I also curse the lunatic that thought up wooden telegraph poles for knitting needles. They weigh a ton in size 8 mm and my hot hands make them sticky and the friction will allow the yarn to glide on them.
The neck warmer is taking shape all the same, and it is very very efficient already as it is giving off some serious temperamental heat in production. While I curse, I seriously wonder where I have left my beloved Addi circulars size 8 mm?…
