It is pure magic what a bit of space in the head can do for a yarnie! The other day I sat down for an hour after a quick raid of The Stash and completely focused on the task at hand, namely getting the hang of crocheting tubular Tunisian and TADDAAAAAA! This is the result! It’s not exactly beautiful but with a few tweaks I think it could very easily turn into all sorts of things. In my minds eye I see hats and bread baskets and sausage cushions and perhaps even a jacket…
It’s a winner and I’m chuffed and now I just wonder when I will get around to refining the technique, there’s still a few miles to go, but I just love the possibilites this gives!

I like the look of Tunesian crochet, but have never done it myself. Is it done flat normally? Are there no patterns for in the round?
I’d love to make one as base for a pouch with fabric on top!
Monika, the texture of Tunisian Crochet is very different to crochet or knitting, the resulting fabric is more like a weave and has a lovely drape.
I’ have been able to do flat work for some time, but never had the time to sit down and work out and master the art of working tubular. I have not yet tried to do flat circular work, but now that I have mastered the art of working tubular I think it will be fairly easy to work it out.
I have no idea if there are patterns, I love re-inventing the wheel and working things out on my own. To me, that is one of the real joys of working with yarn.
Perhaps I’ll get around to making a pattern, one of these years!
Look interesting though! I’m so jealous of all the great stuff I see here, you and your fellow yarnies are so talented:)
Love the look of that and it sounds like you’re on creative hyperdrive which is wonderful, too!
Niamh, just come and take a class…
Hazel, I am in a permanent state of creative drive it’s just that I don’t always have the time to act on the urges!
