Last weekend I was in London and I was having a ball. First of all, I was in a John Lewis shop with some seriously delicious wool to drool over, but I stuck to my guns and only spent £1.50 on a tapestry needle large enough to weave in banana silk yarn ends. That was one serious piece of equipment that I have needed for a long time and have had a hard time finding for sale out here in The Sticks of Wicklow.
I touched and caressed very many balls of wool in John Lewis, where they had all the nice brands in all the loveliest colours and qualities but I left the purse in my bag!!! I own enough wool to dress an army already!
I must admit I felt a bit sad not just going for it, now that I was in wool civilisation, but then I was given a present of four balls of lace weight mohair purchased in Istanbul, so I ended up not going home empty handed after all. And guess what colour the 1000 meters of pretty mohair is? Yes!!! You’re right, it’s seriously green!!!
I had a quick plough through some patterns on Ravelry to find something suitable and simple for the wool and I found a lovely pattern from This Is Knit. The pattern is called Party Lace Scarf and I am going to have one serious ball with my Acid Party wool!
I wonder if I ever mentioned that the colours I wear most are purples and turquoises with a bit of red, black and hot pink thrown in for good measure? I don’t blame you if you think I am obsessed with green…
