IMG_3739Us facilitators at Pick Up Your Needles had 15 mins of calm before the thirty-odd people came spilling in yesterday to rock some wool!

After that, I can’t say we had much quiet, but we had some serious fun. There were hoots of laughter and a lot of chat, a very huge lot of chat and very many very busy hands making all sorts of fantastic items!

In the crochet department we were busy all day long and judging from the rawness of my voice, the crocheters endured an awful lot of noice out of my mouth. What was even more impressive was that none of them, not even one of them ever told me to shut my mouth. Impressive people, crocheters. I managed to get a photo of each one of the crocheters and I thought I would share them with you.

Take a look at these industrious hands that slowly but truely got hooked yesterday.

Now I just wonder if they will keep it up, I have a feeling they will, they seemed well and good hooked when they left!
Thanks to everyone for bringing good spirit to the day and that goes for the spinners, the felters and the knitters too!

Picking Up Again

img_30353Tomorrow is the day of the second edition of
Pick Up Your Needles. The last preparations are under way here with photo shoots and writing up of instructions for the crocheters.

It’s not too strenuous though, as I am firmly planted in the sofa surrounded by books, measuring tapes, calculator and with the computer on my lap.

Hard life that…

I did move myself a little bit, nothing too elaborate but earlier I went in to collect the key to The Courthouse and shopped essentials for a good day, teabags and coffee, sugar and milk!

OH,  I need to pick up the flapjacks too!

img_30412I have just communicated with Nicola, Catherine and Stephanie, they are ready too and what fun we will have!

Now, all I wonder is if the printer will work… Cliff hanger, huh?!

I should be working on a couple of very very old works in progress, I really should, but I am completely besotted with Tunisian Crochet. I am in very deep with the love of the texture of it and not least the structure, it’s like knitting crochet fabric. I mean, who needs a loom just to make a bit of fabric when you can grab a crochet hook and knit some.

img_2767 Yes, it is that intriguing in all it’s simplicity!

I got some Ístex Létt-Lopi from The Yarn Room the other day and the blue colour is just so richly regal and elegant. In stead of finishing old projects, I am simply bagging the blues!

My idea was to make a one skein project holder bag out of it, but the fabric is too open to hold on to knitting needles and crochet hooks and there are only two chances that I will get around to putting a lining into the bag and those two chances are slim and none… Therefore, I decided to make a shoulder bag for holding my bits and bobs and in that way leaving my hands free for more crochet and knitting.  This is a learning curb, so I am only on my third back so far, fortunately, Icelandic lopi unravels very easily…

Now, I just wonder how many goes I will have to have to get the flap just right.
